Abstract

From flushing toilets and refrigerators to jetscoasters, skating, rainbows, the Northern Lights, airplanes, satellites, and GPS, you can understand how the things and phenomena around you work in an interesting way! The book is easy to understand and well illustrated so that even those with a liberal arts background can understand it!　The themes covered in this book are the things and phenomena that are all around us. You don't need to know how they work to live, but if you do, you can enjoy your life. The best part of physics, I think, is that you can handle various phenomena with a few laws, theorems, and a few assumptions.

Author’s Information

Born in 1967. Graduated from Department of Physics, Faculty of Science and Technology, Tokyo University of Science. D. in Physics, Graduate School of Science, Hokkaido University. After working as an associate professor at the Center for Basic Education and the Department of Environmental Chemistry, Faculty of Engineering, Tokyo Denki University, and as a visiting researcher at the French National Cryogenic Laboratory (CRTBT) (2001), he is currently a professor at the Department of Materials Science and Engineering, School of Engineering and Natural Sciences, Tokyo Denki University. D. in Science. He is a member of the Physical Society of Japan.
