Neither fully an octopus nor quite a bear—Takokuma is the only one of his kind in the whole world.

Originating in Taiwan, this slightly mysterious yet deeply gentle character has captured many hearts, and now makes his Japanese debut in a brand-new original picture book.

Born on a southern island, Takokuma stumbles upon a flyer for an "Animal Party." Filled with quiet hope that he might finally make some friends, he heads off to join the fun. Once there, however, he realizes just how different he is from everyone else.
