Abstract

Mia, a girl who has closed herself off from the world, wanders into a town called "The Town of Unwanted Things." The townspeople, worried about Mia who stays holed up in her house, come up with a wonderful idea... This is the first picture book created by Masafumi Murakami and Kashiwai.

Author’s Information

Born in 1991, raised in Kamakura City. Began seriously writing children's literature in 2011. Debuted in 2019 with "That Girl's Secret" (retitled "Hello, My Friend"), which won the Grand Prize at the 2nd Froebel-kan Storytelling Newcomer Award. Also won the 49th Children's Literature Newcomer Award for the same work. Other works include "Candle," "Ribbon-chan," "Tell Me Your Story," and "If Beyond" (all published by Froebel-kan). This work was conceived collaboratively, with the text written by the same author, and marks her first picture book. / Illustrator and manga artist. Active in a wide range of fields, mainly focusing on manga and book cover art and illustrations. Cover art and illustrations for "That Girl's Secret" and "Tell Me Your Story" (both published by Froebel-kan). Her major works include "The Two of Us in the Wind Town" (Futabasha), "10 Things I Want to Talk to You About on a Hitori Night" (Daiwa Shobo), "How to Walk Through the Botanical Garden: In Search of Various Kinds of 'Beauty' - Pretty, Comfortable, and Adorable" (Graphic-sha), and "Kashiwai Works Collection" (Genkosha). This work is her first picture book, and she co-conceived the concept and illustrated it.
