Author’s Information

Yoh Shomei: Born in Kumamoto City in 1946, Yoh Shomei is a picture book author, painter, and poet. He made his debut with the original picture book "A White Bird on My Bench." In 1990, he won the Bologna International Children's Book Fair Graphic Award for his picture book "The Wind and the Hail." The Kita-Kamakura Yoh Shomei Museum opened in Kamakura in 1991, followed by the Yoh Shomei Aso Kogen Picture Book Museum in 2002. His original character "JAKE" was featured on a commemorative stamp issued for Letter Writing Day.

Lisa Vogt: Born in Washington State, USA. She earned an associate degree in Japanese Studies and a bachelor's degree in Business Administration from the University of Maryland, and a master's degree in TESOL (Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages) from Temple University. She has served as an instructor for NHK Radio since 2008 and currently writes the course materials for "Practical Business English." She is a specially appointed professor at Meiji University and a lecturer at Aoyama Gakuin University.
