A baby whale is afraid to dive into the sea because it's dark. No matter how much the penguin tries to persuade him, he just says, "No way!" So the penguin and his friends, seal siblings, start singing songs to encourage him. "We'll be by your side when you're scared and lonely." With everyone by his side, the baby whale takes a step forward. What kind of world awaits him after he tries his best? A picture book that conveys the importance of having courage and the wonderfulness of supporting others.

Author’s Information

Rocket Crayon is a children's song duo based in Tottori Prefecture. They perform family concerts and workshops for childcare workers throughout Japan. In 2018, Satoshi Takada was in charge of writing the lyrics, composing the music, and devising the game for the original children's song "Omochi Biyon!" for "Okaasan to Issho" (NHK E Tele) (the music was co-written with Masami Kurihara).

Jin Kitamura was born in Tokyo in 1981. He is a picture book author and illustrator. His picture books include "Manjiro-san to Onigiri" and "Manjiro-san to Suika" (both written by Izumi Honda, Fukuinkan Shoten), and "Shima Shima Shimasho" (Shogakukan). Books for which he has provided illustrations include "Soshite Seikatsu wa Tsuzuku" (written by Gen Hoshino, Bungei Shunju) and "Boku no Mamoru Hoshi" (written by Akane Kanda, Shueisha).
