Abstract
It’s a cucumber… No, actually, it’s a banana! It’s an orange... No, actually, it’s a tomato! This works provides a strange sensation as you see that it is a different food than you thought when you turn the page. It features numerous food items realistically painted to look like other types of food, and it is fun to read while predicting what kind of food it will turn out to be. This food photograph picture book offers a new sensation and is instilled with the author’s message of “Looks may be deceiving. Author’s Information
Born in Tokyo. Resides in Italy. Debuted as an author with Mizuiro no Ashihire (won the 22nd Nissan Children's Storybook and Picture Book Grand Prix; BL Shuppan). Main works include the trilogy Magic Out – Kokeshi-chan, Hi-gasa Ama-gasa Kumori-gasa, and Mijinko Degozaimasu – (the aforementioned published by Froebel-Kan), Super Kids, Rejection, Boku no Neko ga Robot ni Natta, Chiisa na Hunter (the aforementioned published through Kodansha), Tsukurareta Kokoro (Poplar Publishing), 105-do, Adlib (the aforementioned published by Asunaro Shobo), etc. Won the 60th Japan Juvenile Writers Association Award with Adlib.
