Abstract
A railway photographer who continues to photograph the world and Japan has carefully selected "memorable railway landscapes" from 95 countries around the world. Mr. Sakurai became an independent photojournalist in 1990. In 1993, he completed an 88-day round-the-world trip using only land and sea routes without using airplanes, and his record of that trip, "Railway World Dream Journey," won the Transportation Book Award. Mr. Sakurai has continued to photograph railways both in Japan and overseas, and has photographed 95 countries and traveled to them 250 times. In this book, he presents a selection of the best railway landscapes from the vast number of photographs he has accumulated over the years, mainly focusing on works that were exhibited at the Canon Gallery 50th Anniversary Exhibition.
