Born in Chiba Prefecture in 1972. Joined Nikkan Sports Newspaper (now Nikkan Sports NEWS) in 1996. Became part of the Sports Department in the editorial office in 1999. After covering the Olympics and soccer, he began covering sumo wrestling from the March 2010 tournament. Currently publishes articles on "Nikkan Sports Premium." He also serves as the MC for the talk event "Toyonoshima no Heya" and creates questions for the ABEMA Sumo Center Exam. His X account @ichiro_SUMO, with 60,000 followers, is also popular.
