Author’s Information

Born in Nakatsu City, Oita Prefecture, he began his entrepreneurial journey in 2001 with a humble three-tsubo (approximately 10-square-meter) mobile takoyaki stand. In 2003, he opened the dining restaurant Hinataya, which grew into a hugely successful establishment attracting approximately 40,000 customers annually through word-of-mouth alone.
Drawing from his own experiences, he developed a distinctive human resource development methodology based on the philosophy of “not gathering first-rate people, but making the people you already have first-rate.” This unique approach has earned widespread recognition, leading to numerous lectures and seminars across Japan. As a new-generation leader who advocates the importance of “how a person chooses to be,” he enjoys overwhelming support from young people, with cumulative attendance at his lectures reaching approximately 700,000 participants.
Since 2016, he has been based in Azabu, Tokyo. In addition to his own writing activities, he is engaged in a wide range of business ventures, including nurturing the next generation of authors, publishing consultancy, management consulting, publishing support services, lectures, and seminars.
As an author, his 2021 book The Way You Speak Is 90% (Hito wa Hanashikata ga 9-Wari, Subarusha) ranked No. 1 in Japan's annual overall book sales rankings across all genres (according to Nippan). In 2022, it achieved the unprecedented distinction of becoming the No. 1 bestselling business book for three consecutive years (also according to Nippan), surpassing 1.35 million copies in circulation. His other notable works include Who Will You Live With? (Kimi wa Dare to Ikiru ka, Forest Publishing) and The Power of Not Worrying (Nayamanai Chikara, Tokuma Shoten). His books have sold more than 4.1 million copies in total.
