Abstract

“Ooh, a shooting star!”
The shining blue object cut across the sky at a diagonal, tracing a long tail of light as it slowly shrank in size. It was a sight of fleeting beauty, filling the viewer with a twang of pain before disappearing like a burnt-out soul.
“Aww, I should’ve made a wish…”
“You should have,” the sad-faced boy’s mother chuckled.
But at the next moment, the child let out a shout of joy, as his guardian dropped her shopping bag. More blue meteors appeared across the dark sky, transforming into a volley of light-twinged lances, too many to count, that quickly buried the black behind them.
