Abstract

This is a photographic guidebook with full scale photographs and detailed descriptions for feathers of 281 species of birds which can be seen in Japan. The photographs of feather parts and numbers are increased to a large extent. The authors carefully paid attention to printing to show the feathers’ accurate colors and sophisticated figures. This field guide will meet the needs of readers who want to find out about the feathers they picked up, those interested in its structure, illustrators who want to draw birds, and more. Researchers, birdwatchers, and illustrators will be the potential readers.

Author’s Information

Takuya Kanouchi is a freelance photographer. He worked as a landscape architect for 9 years after graduating the Tokyo University of Agriculture. He then became a photographer and is known for photographing wild birds. He is an author of numerous publications.
Masaru Takada has liked to be in nature from his childhood. He was an author of numerous books in the field of ornithology. He was a manager of a guest house in Hokkaido known to many wild bird fans. He passed away in 2013.
