Abstract
“White Florentina” written by Mitomo Togawa is a historical epic about the growth and success of a young girl who aspires to be a painter in Renaissance Florence.
The story takes place in Florence at the beginning of the 16th century, during the heyday of Leonardo da Vinci, Michelangelo and Raphael. The heroine, Florentina, is a young girl from a poor family who loves drawing the Madonna on the cobblestones at midnight with a piece of chalk she found. Due to women being limited to minor roles in that age, Florentina breaks through the mold as one of her works captures the heart of a young wealthy merchant, who helps her break new grounds.
Imagine if there was a female painter during the Renaissance who captured the hearts of the geniuses of the time! Follow Florentina's passion, challenges, and love as she becomes a successful artist!
