Author’s Information
Born in Tokyo in 1953. Religious studies scholar and author. Graduated from the University of Tokyo Faculty of Letters, Department of Religious Studies and History of Religion, and completed a doctoral course at the University of Tokyo Graduate School of Humanities. In graduate school, she researched commune movements and is also interested in the relationship between medicine and religion. She has served as an associate professor at the Broadcasting Education Development Center, a professor at Japan Women's University, and a specially appointed researcher at the University of Tokyo Research Center for Advanced Science and Technology, and is currently a part-time lecturer at Tokyo Woman's Christian University and Tokyo Correspondence University. She writes on a wide range of topics about religions in Japan and around the world, and has written many books. "Zero Funeral" caused a big stir, and the title itself became a catchphrase (this data was published at the time the book was published).
