Author’s Information

Professor at Kyoto Prefectural University. Born in Kyoto City in 1965. Currently a professor at Kyoto Prefectural University. Completed doctoral studies in Oriental History at the Graduate School of Letters, Kyoto University. PhD (Literature). Served as an assistant professor at Miyazaki University before assuming his current position. Specializes in Oriental history and modern Asian history. His many books include "Modern China and Maritime Customs" (winner of the Ohira Masayoshi Memorial Award, Nagoya University Press), "Between Vassal State and Autonomy" (winner of the Suntory Academic Prize, Nagoya University Press), and "The Birth of China" (winner of the Kashiyama Junzo Award and Asia Pacific Prize, Nagoya University Press), among others (this data was current at the time of publication).
