Professor at the Faculty of Political Science and Economics, Kokushikan University. Born in Tochigi Prefecture in 1969. Completed the doctoral course at the Graduate School of Economics, Kyushu University, receiving a PhD in Economics. Visiting researcher at Chuo University's Institute of Economic Research, special researcher at Asia University's Institute of Asia Studies, visiting researcher at the Institute for International Trade and Investment (ITI), and expert member of the East Asia Community Council. Specializes in the Southeast Asian economy, particularly Thailand, and trade strategies such as FTAs. Has worked for JETRO (Japan External Trade Organization) since 1992. Has been involved in Southeast Asian-related work for 20 years, including as a senior researcher at the Bangkok, Thailand office and as the Regional Strategy Director (ASEAN). Joined Kokushikan University in 2017. Appointed to current position in 2020. Has also given numerous lectures to companies on topics such as Southeast Asian economic and trade strategies (this data was published at the time of this book's publication)
