Abstract

People are attracted to bird feathers for their elaborate and complicated structures. This manual includes identification key by means of pictures which one can distinguish feathers by parts or features. The book also shows the way to distinguish by using microscopes, which is unique compared to other field guides. This manual thoroughly explains how one can tell the owner from one small feather.

Author’s Information

Takashi Fujii is a research director of the Japanese Society for Preservation of Birds. His research area ranges from the distribution of Rose-ringed parakeets to little terns. He has collected bird feathers since he was a student and has a long-standing insistence on not only the collection but identification points. He is an author of numerous books about birds.
