Abstract
This field guide specializes in the identification of gulls aimed for all bird-watchers including beginners who want to learn from the basics. The tree-like illustrated diagram at the beginning of the book enables to identify nine elementary species. The first parts gives deails of 30 species recorded in Japan with illustrations. The next part explains how to identify in the field, showing where to see carefully. "Compare and Get It! Gulls Fied Guide" at the later part uses photographs to compare different species and readers are able to simulate distinguishing one species from the other. The book also includes information such as ages and molting as much as possible.

Osao Ujihara was born in 1949. He is an illustrator specialized in birds. He has illustrated many field guides He is also an experinced gull watcher who has a detailed knowledge of identifying. Born in 1971, Michiaki Ujihara is also an bird ilustrator and gull watcher. He watches snipes in fall.
