Abstract

Can the Japanese automotive industry survive in an era which are Tesla's advance, bans on gasoline and hybrid vehicles, unsuccessful FCV, and delays in EV development?
The author explains the drastically changing automobile industry.

Japanese cars, which was called a major industry of the Japanese economy, have been overwhelmingly competitive compared to overseas companies. But now, it is facing a crisis.
Many countries have been developing gasoline-free cars, so the shift to EV for cars is inevitable. This means that the era has come when gasoline car technology can’t survive.

Japanese car manufacturers come to a standstill in the face of this industry transformation.
They are unable to change due to their inability to abandon past successes.

Will Japanese cars continue to be driven out of global competition? What will become of the Japanese car industry in the future?
