Abstract

This is Seika Akamine's first book on hats, introducing a total of 20 works based on 10 different paper patterns with some arrangements. From going out to going out, you can wear it without hesitation, and it is casually cute! The book is a collection of designs that can be used in two ways or as a brim hat. The book also shows how the same pattern can be used in two ways, with different brim widths, with different fabrics, and with different tastes depending on the fabrics used. Large photos are used to explain in detail the important sewing methods for hat making, such as how to sew a beautiful curve, how to stitch, aligning the top of the crown, sewing thicker parts, sewing between cords, piping the brim edge, sewing a size ribbon, dovetailing, and how to measure and adjust the head circumference. The large photos are used to explain in detail. Because hats are the key to fashion, the book provides detailed explanations so that they can be made beautifully. The actual large-size paper is very easy to copy as there is no overlapping of parts.

After planning and designing bags and accessories for an apparel company, she became a freelance designer. Currently, while planning and designing for manufacturers and stores, she contributes her work to magazines and books, holds workshops, and teaches at the Vogue Gakuen schools in Tokyo and Yokohama.
