Through reporting on craftspeople, this book showcases such issues as the true pleasures of craftsmanship and the difficulties involved in handing it down to future generations. It is a book that enables readers to encounter The Way of Life of Craftsmen, which many are not familiar with.
Centered around interviews with five people who chose the way of life as Wajima laquer craftspeople, this showcases the history of Wajima laquer, how it is made, the tools it requires, and how to become a laquer craftsperson.
