Abstract

In a corner of Edo, a prison guard, Tsutsumi Tainoshin, who lives in the "Gokuraku Nagoya," a gathering place for people with special needs, runs a kitchen knife shop. His well-trained body is secretly popular even in the tenement. However, despite his stern appearance, he is an excellent cook. One day, while living a low-profile life, Tainoshin gets caught up in a street slaying case targeting a mother and her child. He was unable to save the mother's life, but he did save the boy in the nick of time and brought him back to his tenement. However, the boy had amnesia from the shock of witnessing the slaughter, so Tainoshin had no choice but to take the child in and begin living with him as a "parent and child". With the help of his tenement mates, they live a happy but strange life together, until Tainoshin, who is searching for the truth behind the incident, receives some news.....
