Author’s Information

Setsuko Tamura
Illustrator, Essayist
Born in Tokyo in 1938. After graduating from high school and working as an office worker at a bank, she was introduced to illustration by artist Matsumoto Katsuji.
In the 1960s, she appeared on the covers and "fashionable pages" of the girls' manga magazines "Ribon" (Shueisha), "Nakayoshi" (Kodansha), "Margaret" (Shueisha), and "Shoujo Club" (Kodansha).
In the 1970s, she signed contracts with more than a dozen companies throughout Japan, and her "Setsuko goods," such as stationery and accessories, took the country by storm.
Since 1980, she has also worked on illustrations for Poplar Publishing's famous children's stories, poetry, and essays. Currently, she is energetically producing works such as the "Komoribito" series of three-dimensional works using collage techniques, and holds solo exhibitions several times a year. She continues to inspire many people through her lectures and talk shows.
He is also the author of "Declaration of Chame-ryoku! (Kawade Shobo Shinsha), "I'm glad I met you" (Koyokan), and many other books.
