Abstract

As an active forensic pathologist, the author spends every day dealing mainly with bodies that have died in an unusual way. In recent years, he has become concerned about women’s deaths. In addition to an increase in the elderly population, there is an increase in the number of women living alone due to bereavement, divorce, or never getting married, and we expect that there will be changes in the way women die. Currently, the ratio of male autopsies to female autopsies conducted is about 7 to 3, but he fears the ratio of female autopsies is expected to increase in the future. What does the future hold, as seen from various female autopsy cases?
