Abstract

Behind the door there was all the time. An original novel written by Makoto Shinkai himself!

Suzume Iwato is a 17-year-old girl living with her aunt in a quiet port town in Kyushu.
One day on her way to school, Suzume passes a beautiful young man who says he is looking for a door, and she follows him to an abandoned building in the mountains. However, all she finds there is an old, white door standing alone, as if it has been left behind by the collapse. As if she was drawn to something, Suzume tries to reach out to that door, but .......

Soon, doors begin to open one after another all over Japan.
The doors that open must be closed, because misfortune will come from the other side.
---The stars, the setting sun, the morning sky...
In the place where she wandered, there was a sky where all the time seemed to melt together...

Led by the mysterious door, Suzume's "journey of closing the door" begins.

The original novel written by director Makoto Shinkai himself!
