Abstract

"If the shrine maidens do not dedicate their dances successfully, the insects will spring up."
Insects and humans used to live together in the town of Mushizukacho. However, humans, driven by greed, took away the insects' habitat. To appease the souls of the insects, a shrine maiden at Haguro Shrine, the family home of the main character, Arisu, has been dedicating the "Mushiokuri(burying insects) no Mai" for generations. As a shrine maidens of the Mushiokuri(burying insects), Arisu also strives to practice the dance, but she is troubled by her lack of success.
Then, a stranger and a transfer student named Managuro appear before her. Although it is the first time they have met, he knows her name.
This Japanese-style fantasy story, which depicts the long-standing relationship and battle between humans and insects, begins.
