Abstract
The second collection of Mateusz Urbanowicz, author of the hit illustration book "Tokyo Storefront," is a series of "Tokyo Yako" series of skillful watercolor paintings of Tokyo nights. The Tokyo landscapes depicted from the author's unique perspective, including skyscrapers, neon lights seen from back alleys, rain-soaked streets and townscapes, and tasteful bridges and trains, evoke a sense of nostalgia and human activity, but at the same time have an otherworldly appearance that leaves the viewer with an unmistakable feeling of being there. The author's unique sensibility in "Tokyo Yako" depicts the face of the metropolis that can only be seen at night. You are sure to sense a new aspect of Tokyo. At the end of the book, there is a special interview with director Makoto Shinkai, who is a close friend of the author, as well as a behind-the-scenes look at the author's writing method. It is also a must-read!
