Abstract

"Unit origami" is a composite type origami that first folds paper to make a simple structure (unit) and then combines several of them to form a shape. This series is the definitive edition of unit origami, in which the author, who is active internationally as a leading expert in unit origami, systematically explains the unit solids and adds many new works. The theme of this book is "basic solids". We will systematically classify and organize various variations of five types of solids: regular tetrahedron, regular hexahedron (cube), regular octahedron, regular dodecahedron, and regular icosahedron, and introduce them with detailed folding drawings. The published works range from a simple but interesting 2-disc regular tetrahedron to a 1,080-disc masterpiece. Many of the various "star-set" solids are also attractive. Please enjoy the fun of "folding and assembling" unique to unit origami.
