Elize Scidmore came to Japan in Meiji era (1868-1912), and met cherry trees blooming so nicely.
She was so impressed the beautiful view in Japan with cherry blossom, that she made her efforts to create a street of a row of cherry trees in Washington DC, America.
There was a desire for peace and her love for cherry blossoms.
Since then, cherry trees have kept blooming each spring in Japan and the U.S., wishing for peace.
It's a picture book, which would like you to read as "a story of peace" for striving the donation of cherry trees, as a biography of an American woman who loved Japan.
