Abstract
The Sengoku period (late 15th century to late 16th century) in Japan continues to enjoy strong popularity as the subject of movies and historical dramas. The popularity of the warring states heroes, such as Nobunaga and Hideyoshi, is supported by their supporters, the foot soldiers and farmers, who are the focus of this book. How were the underlings summoned to battle, what weapons did they use in battle, and what kind of food did they eat on the battlefield !? Under the supervision of Tetsuo Owada, a historian and a leading authority on historical research, this book presents a fully illustrated version of the realistic Warring States period.
