The highest hurdle in developmental disabilities is "beyond diagnosis. Author’s Information

Nobumasa Kato  
Professor Emeritus of the University of Tokyo, Professor Emeritus of Showa University, and President of the Neurological Institute of Japan. Born in 1947 in Aichi Prefecture, Japan. Born in Aichi Prefecture in 1947, he graduated from the University of Tokyo Faculty of Medicine. After graduating from the Department of Psychiatry, Teikyo University, studying at the National Institute of Mental Health, the Department of Physiology, University of Manitoba, Canada, and the National Institute of Neurological Research, National Centre of Neurology and Psychiatry, he became Professor of Psychiatry, Graduate School of Medicine, University of Tokyo, Director of the University of Tokyo Hospital, Chief Professor, Department of Psychiatry, Showa University School of Medicine, and Director of Showa University Hospital, Karasuyama. He has served as Director of Showa University Hospital. In 2008, he opened an outpatient clinic specializing in adult developmental disorders at Showa University Karasuyama Hospital and started a daycare for ASD. In 2023, the Tokyo Metropolitan Developmental Disabilities Support Center Adult Division (Adult T0SCA) was established within the Institute of Neurology, providing a wide range of consultation services for adult developmental disabilities. In addition, he has consistently worked on scientific understanding, treatment, and research of developmental disabilities, including participation in the Strategic Promotion Program for Brain Science Research.
