Author’s Information

Sociologist of law. After majoring in sociology of law at Kyoto University Graduate School, he studied at the University of Paris II, a prestigious law school in France. After working as an assistant professor at the Faculty of Law, Kyoto University, he is currently a professor and vice president of the Faculty of Law, Toin University of Yokohama. He is also a trustee of the Correctional Association of Japan and the National Federation of Benevolent Interviewers. He has also served as a board member of the Japan Association of Criminal Sociology, the Japan Association of Legal Sociology, and the Japan Association of Victimology, as well as a faculty member of the National Police Academy and chairman of the commissioned Ministry of Justice Penal Institution Inspection Committee. His publications include "Homicide in Japan" (Chikuma Shinsho) and "If You Go to Jail" (Wani Books). He has made numerous appearances in the media, including television and newspapers.
