Abstract

Five stories, including "The Ball is Missing," a mystery set in a high school baseball club which became Ubayashi’s starting point, and "Closed Circle at an Unknown Station," writing of murder at a switchback station. This is the author’s first collection of mystery stories based on logic.
No matter where we look, no matter how hard we search, the ball cannot be found. We are unable to go home until all one hundred balls are found, but the last ball is nowhere to be seen. Where in the world did the ball go? Members of the high school baseball team try to figure out the whereabouts of the ball, deducing its whereabouts… Including "The Ball is Missing," the story which became the author's starting point, "Welcome to the Space Club," in which members of the astronomy club try to solve the mystery of an e-mail with a celestial photograph attached, and the title story, which describes a murder mystery set in an actual switchback station, the five stories in this collection of mysteries set in logic, which shows Ubayashi’s unique style of writing where the truth comes out from places that the reader does not expect.
