Abstract

Sometimes, you should live like a cat.

This book includes 8 stories about a high school student, a bar staff member, and a veterinarian and their encounters with stray cats and their lives.

Four kittens were born in the room of Yoshiko, an elementary school student who is sick in bed. Yoshiko is worried about the little kitten, Chibi. ("Meeko's Oshie").
Eichi is a high school dropout who works at a gay bar in Shinjuku's Ni-Chome district. He meets the legendary "Mr. Elvis," who makes his living collecting garbage and lets a stray cat live on the roof of his bar. ("Running Away").

Author’s Information

Mitsuharu Sagawa
Born in Tokyo in 1965 and raised in Chigasaki. Graduated from the Faculty of Law, Hokkaido University, he won the 32nd Shincho New Writers Award in 2000 for "Design of Life," the 24th Noma Literary New Writers Award in 2002 for "Shrunken Love," the 26th Tsubota Joji Literary Award in 2011 for "My Aunt," and the 31st Shogi Pen Club Grand Prize for Excellence in Literature and Arts in 2019 for "Koma Sound High. His other books include "Cow Slaughtered," "The Day I Grow Up," "Railroad Boy," and "Flowers of the Full Sky."
