Abstract
The journey began in the Shimokita Peninsula. Manga artist Yoshiharu Tsuge, photographer Kazuo Kitai, and journalist Norio Osaki have reprinted for the first time in 50 years the record of their travels from 1969 to 1975, standing among the landscapes of various regions of Japan. The book brings back memories of places such as the hot-spring cures of Tohoku, the Ohenro area of Shikoku, and the Kunisaki Peninsula, which are rich in flavor. In addition to the serialization in "Asahi Graph," the book also includes a trip in "Graphication," a discussion in "Rujin," and a trilogy for the first time in 50 years. Author’s Information
Yoshiharu Tsuge
Born in Tokyo in 1937, Yoshiharu Tsuge made his debut as a manga artist in 1954. After working in rental manga, he began publishing short stories in "Monthly Manga Garo" in 1965, and broke new ground with "The Lee Family," "Sketches of the Seashore," "Nejishiki," and other works. He is the recipient of the Grand Prize of the Japan Cartoonists Association Award in 2017, the Special Honor Award at the Angoulême International Cartoon Festival in 2008, and a member of the Japan Art Academy in 2010.
Norio Osaki
Born in Saitama Prefecture in 1940, Osaki graduated from the University of Tokyo in 1963 with a degree in French literature, and joined the Asahi Shimbun. He served as editor-in-chief of "Haiku Asahi" and "Tanka Asahi. After retiring from the company, he has been the president of the haiku association "Yaburegasa" since 2001. His works include "Shishu: Hitotsu no Tsugitatsu", "Straw Hat no Tsurimoto Sansho", and "n no arkune: Otona no Doyo Monogatari" (Adult's Fairy Tales).
Kazuo Kitai
Born in Manchuria in 1944, Kitai dropped out of the photography department of Nihon University College of Art in 1965 and published the photo collection "Resistance" in 1971, followed by "Sanrizuka" in 1972, which won the New Photographer Award of the Photographic Society of Japan the following year. In 1976, he won the first Ihei Kimura Photography Award for his series "To the Village. His collections include "Funabashi Story" and "Someday I Saw Landscape.
