Author’s Information

Yoshinori Sadai
COO of Sophia Bliss K.K. and CFO of Higashikawa-cho, Hokkaido, Japan, Yoshinori Sadai, joined a general trading company after graduating from Hokkaido University. While stationed in charge of finance in Hong Kong, he was at the forefront of the Asian currency crisis, where interest rates were 3000%, and keenly felt his lack of global competence. After returning to Japan, he took the opportunity of passing the US CPA exam to change jobs at Accenture, where he became head of finance in Japan in his 20s. In 2015, he moved to Higashikawa, Hokkaido, Japan, after visiting the town for the first time and falling in love with it. Despite these circumstances, he realized the "earning power" of the community by "speaking in simple numbers." As the town's CFO, he promotes shopping district revitalization, internationalization, and entrepreneurship support. In particular, his digital local currency, HUC (Hook), was selected by the Minister of Economy, Trade and Industry in 2019 as one of the "30 Flamboyant Shopping Towns". Currently, as a double-entrepreneur who "lives in a place of his choice, with friends of his choice, and in a job of his choice," he is simultaneously engaged in 15 different jobs, including financial strategy consulting, university startup development, Web3 business promotion, UNESCO City of Design advisor, NPO board member, and hotel management while promoting Higashikawa's community development and writing. He has also lectured more than 200 groups of students, business people, and local governments, teaching them about future town planning, new working methods, and career design.
