Born in Hyogo Prefecture in 1951, he graduated from the Faculty of Economics at Keio University in 1974 and joined Nomura Securities in the same year. In 1989, he became Managing Director of Wasserstein Perella International (London) Ltd. in 1991, Director of Nomura Corporate Information in 1992, and General Manager of Nomura Securities' Corporate Banking Division in 1992. In 1995, he joined Softbank at the invitation of Masayoshi Son and was appointed Managing Director. Currently, he is President and Representative Director of SBI Holdings, a comprehensive corporate group with a focus on finance, which is engaged in a wide range of businesses including Internet financial service businesses such as securities, banking, and insurance, investment businesses for fostering new industries, and biotechnology-related businesses. He is also a member of the Board of Directors of the SBI Foundation for Children's Hope and President of SBI Graduate University.
