Abstract

The official archive of "NADIA: THE SECRET OF BLUE WATER," an animation work directed by Hideaki Anno that has been broadcast on NHK since April 1990, is now available for sale after a lapse of more than 30 years!
"NADIA: THE SECRET OF BLUE WATER," which has been popular among a wide range of generations throughout the ages, has been released on VHS, laserdisc, DVD, and Blu-ray, each time containing interviews and precious memoirs by director Hideaki Anno and other key staff members. This "official archives" is a compilation of the rare interviews in the booklets enclosed with each soft disk, setting materials, image boards, original drawings, layouts, and other materials discovered for the exhibition, and is now available as a memorial book.
Starting with the early planning documents and setting materials for "NADIA: THE SECRET OF BLUE WATER," this record book contains a wealth of image boards, character settings, mechanical and prop settings, and more. The book also includes newly discovered materials from recent years, which have been replaced from the original editions as much as possible. The book also includes freshly recorded comments by Yoshino Takamori, Noriko Hidaka, and Akio Otsuka from the cast and a roundtable discussion by the production staff looking back at the time from 2022.
