Abstract
A western lowland gorilla born in Cameroon, her name is Rose. Rose has intelligence comparable to humans and understands words. They can also "converse" with humans using sign language. In Cameroon, she falls in love with a male gorilla. Caught up in the harsh laws of nature, he also loses his loved ones. Rose ended up living in an American zoo, as fate would have it. It seems like there were a lot of political arguments going on, but Rose doesn't care. They develop a love relationship with a gorilla they meet at the zoo and become a couple. It was supposed to be smooth sailing. Her husband is shot and killed for trying to save a 4-year-old human child who had broken into his cage. Why? Why didn't you use a tranquilizer gun? Is it okay to kill gorillas to save human lives? No, I can't forgive it! Rose fights in court for her husband, for herself, for justice, and against humans! A huge, moving story based on the Harambe Incident caused intense debate in the United States—a unanimous winner of the 64th Mephisto Awards.
