Abstract

In this book, author Io Kawauchi embarks on a journey to discover and showcase "rare individuals" who live life unconventionally and illuminate the world with their unique approaches. These individuals are not bound by common norms; they represent a new way of living. However, this book is not just about introducing "uncommon cuisine." Instead, it delves into the lives of nine visionaries who use food as a means to expand the possibilities within their regions.

The book features individuals from various fields, including maple syrup production in Chichibu, a YouTuber who raises cattle in Tamba, and Kyoto's unique red sake. These revolutionaries are challenging the status quo in forestry, dairy farming, agriculture, and fishing, presenting unprecedented innovations in their respective industries.

Their stories go beyond the concept of "delicious" and offer a continuous stream of excitement and life lessons. Join the Rare Individual Hunter on a journey to explore the potential of food and local communities.
