Abstract
A Manga That Everyone Should Read: In Japan, 80% of people pass away in hospitals. However, there is an option to spend one's final moments in the comfort of their own home. This heartwarming manga tells the true story of Dr. Tanpopo, an at-home doctor in the Seto Inland Sea region, through the artistry of Musework (Nekomaki), the creator behind hit manga like 'Neko to Jiichan' and 'Tora to Mike.
Author’s Information
Nagai Yasunori: Chairman of the Medical Corporation Yuu no Mori and physician at Tanpopo Clinic. In the year 2000, he established a specialized home medical care clinic in Matsuyama City, Ehime Prefecture. Starting with a staff of three and zero patients, he aimed to elevate the quality of home medical care by maintaining high standards in "philosophy," "system," and "personnel." Currently, the clinic has around 100 staff members and provides home medical care as the main service, while also offering inpatient and outpatient services. In 2012, he took over the management of a publicly-owned clinic in a town with a population of 1,100, which had been discontinued due to municipal mergers. His efforts in rural healthcare earned him the Ministry of Regional Revitalization Award at the 1st Japan Service Awards in 2016. He actively engages in promoting home medical care through nationwide lectures and specialized training workshops.
Musework (Nekomaki): Based in Nagoya since 2002, Musework began working as an illustrator. Their portfolio includes comic essays, relaxed manga featuring dogs and cats, advertising illustrations, and contributions to anime. They have collaborated with Nekomaki on several popular works, including the "Neko to Jiichan" series (published by KADOKAWA) with over 700,000 copies sold and the heartwarming "Tora to Mike" series (published by Shogakukan).
