Abstract

Beta Japanese Language School, a Japanese cram school for junior high school entrance examinations, boasts an astounding success rate in entrance examinations for famous private junior high schools and other junior high schools every year. The charismatic author, the leader of the school, explains how to dramatically improve reading comprehension using his original method, which he has developed over more than 20 years of teaching. In this 10-day course, students will acquire reading comprehension weapons through manga and diagrams, and further deepen their understanding through questions and explanations. Not only children aiming to take the junior high school entrance exam, but also junior high and high school students, university students, and adults can enjoy learning and acquire reading comprehension skills that will last a lifetime.

Takeshi Zenpou
Graduated from Waseda University, Faculty of Law. Representative of Beta Japanese Language School for Junior High School Entrance Exams (manager and supervisor). He has about 20 instructors and about 100 students. While a student at Waseda University, he served as the secretary-general of the Green Law Society, a bar exam preparation circle. While taking the bar exam, he also prepared mock exam questions and wrote commentaries for the bar exam at the Tatsumi Law Institute. While studying for the bar exam, he developed severe atopic dermatitis (IGE 13000, more than 250 is an abnormal value) and his whole body immunity was weakened. After repeated visits to the emergency room, he gave up taking the exam (he is now completely cured). While working part-time as a tutoring instructor for the bar exam, she discovered that "the way to solve legal problems can be applied to the way to solve Japanese language problems. Since then, he has pursued methods to improve reading comprehension and to solve Japanese language problems by using the unique and reliable viewpoint that "this problem in law is similar to this problem in Japanese". After working as a teacher at Yotsuya Otsuka, he opened Japan's first Japanese language school for junior high school entrance examinations, Beta Japanese Classroom, in Sendagi, Bunkyo-ku, Tokyo, in 1994. Since then, he has guided approximately 600 students to pass the entrance examinations with his one-on-one instruction based on his unique know-how.

Yayoi Sunohara
With the motto of "cute, easy-to-understand, and popular", he is active in magazines, books, and advertisements. He has been working on various genres of manga, such as study reference books and business books, and is well known for his fun and easy-to-understand expressions. His portraits and illustrated reports warmly conveying his unique point of view are also popular. He is the author of "Takarazuka word dictionary" (Seibundo Shinkosha) and "Futari no Usuge Monogatari" (Bungeishunju), among others. He is also the co-author of "Manga de osaerai chugaku math" (KADOKAWA) and "Manga de kanjiru! A book to learn to read Hangul in an hour" (Gakken). She is currently working hard with her daughter to prepare for the junior high school entrance exam.
