Abstract
Dogen (1200-1253) is known as a Zen monk who accurately propagated Zen from the Song Dynasty in China to Japan. However, this book reveals Dogen's Zen from the perspective that he did not merely "propagated" Zen, but inherited and modified Chinese Zen, reconstructing it. Dogen transcends times, regions, denominational divides, and questions each Buddhist follower: "What does it mean to live in Buddhism?" This book, incorporating the latest research results, succinctly and clearly describes the core of Dogen's practice and verification.
