Abstract
Buddhist Contributions to Society Post-East Japan Earthquake": In the aftermath of the East Japan Earthquake, the significance of Buddhist contributions to society has been highlighted. The author, who has repeatedly visited disaster-stricken areas and conducted interviews with numerous people, writes with a steadfast trust gained from them . Toshiyuki Ohsuga
A specialized advisor at the Public Interest Incorporated Association Shanti International Volunteer Association (SVA) and a lecturer at the Soto Zen Comprehensive Research Center, specializing in clinical Buddhist research. He was born in 1950 in Ishinomaki City, Miyagi Prefecture. After working as a high school teacher, he resonated with Shanti's founder, Mitsunari Arima, and entered the world of NGOs. He has been exploring social contribution activities rooted in the Buddhist spirit (Buddhist volunteer work). He has been mainly active in domestic operations and public relations. From January to March 2015, he contributed a serial column to the weekly "Buddhism Times" paper. From 2014, he wrote a series for three years in the monthly "Daifaron" magazine called "The Shape of Compassion".
