Abstract

Members of the Eito University Mystery Club (EMC), Jiro Egami, Alice Arisugawa and Maria Arima travel to a remote island owned by Maria’s family. On the island are Moai statues placed in various places supposedly concealing secrets of the missing family diamonds worth millions of dollars. The three set out to solve the “Moai Puzzle” but one night during a bad storm, two of Maria’s family and friends staying at the island are found shot to death. With all communication outside the island cut off, further tragedies hit the island… A brilliant locked room mystery, and one of the most popular titles in the series starring the author's namesake, Alice Arisugawa.

Debuted in 1989 with “Moonlight Game”. Winner of various mystery awards including the Mystery Writers of Japan Award, Honkaku Mystery Award, Osaka Book One Project Award, Eiji Yoshikawa Paperbook Award.
Born 1959 in Osaka, graduated from Doshisha University.
