Born 1972, Okinawa, Japan. Professor, Graduate School of Education, University of the Ryukyus. Lives near the Futenma airbase. Involved in supporting and researching underage girls in Tokyo from the 1990s to 2014 and since then in Okinawa.In the summer of 2016, she decided to write about sexual violence in Okinawa after a murder case by a former marine and serviceman in Uruma City. The following year, she published ”Run away without shoes on: Girls in Okinawa's Night Streets” (Ohta Publishing, 2017); in 2020, she published "Umi wo Ageru (Raise the Sea)" (Chikuma Shobo); in 2021, she was awarded the 14th Wasami, or Nobody Prize. She is currently in Okinawa, continuing her research on women who gave birth at a young age.
