Abstract

Dr. Hideto Yoshioka, a pediatrician, has been featured three times on the documentary program "Passion Continent." For over 25 years, he has been providing free medical care in Myanmar, a country said to have an exceedingly high child mortality rate due to poverty.
In environments lacking funds, manpower, sufficient electricity, water, and medical equipment, he never gives up and continues to save lives.
His dedication has influenced many, and the activities of the non-profit organization "Japan Heart," which he founded, continue to expand.
This book looks back on Dr. Yoshioka's life, from a childhood where he disliked studying and struggled with school, to being deeply affected by the sight of impoverished children on TV, the sudden aspiration to become a doctor, his profound experiences since his first visit to Myanmar at 30, and the unforgettable meetings and partings with his patients.
Aiming to heal not just patients' bodies but also their souls, this non-fiction narrative introduces Dr. Yoshioka's passionate way of life to children.
