Abstract

Born in Tokyo in 1918. Graduated from Bunka Gakuin. Household critic. Essayist.
She started working at the age of 15, when it was very rare for women to work, and worked as a clerk, stenographer, and secretary before marrying literary critic Tsunatake Furuya. While supporting her family life, she has been active as a lifestyle critic, thinking about women's lives from the viewpoint of a consumer, and writing, lecturing, radio, and TV with her thoughts on the importance of living. After the death of her mother-in-law and husband, she has lived alone for more than 30 years since she was 65 years old. She is the author of many books, including "Hontou no yuzoku" and "Living as I am (Asa Publishing Co., Ltd.), which became best and longest sellers.
