Abstract

From ``The Rose of Versailles'' and ``Elisabeth'' to ``Lupin the Third'', many classics from the past also appear! Takarazuka Revue has a history of over 100 years and owns dedicated theaters in Takarazuka City, Hyogo Prefecture and Hibiya, Tokyo. In this book, you will delve into the Takarazuka Revue from various angles, using the keyword "review" as one of its highlights, to get to the essence of its appeal. By learning about the history, aesthetics, and characteristics of the theater company's production, this book can be used as an opportunity to go to the theater, and can also be used as a preparation before going to the theater. At the end of the book, you take a closer look at past masterpieces as ``Introducing Takarazuka Masterpieces''. [What is a review? ] Even if you have never seen a Takarazuka play or don't know the concept of a review, when you hear "Takarazuka," you will notice that in addition to the male actors, you will also see the star carrying a large feather on his back, line dancing, and electric decorations. It probably brings to mind something like a grand, glowing staircase. All of these are scenes from a program called a revue, which mainly consists of singing and dancing (from the main text).
