Abstract
During the autumnal equinox, Kirichan makes 'Ohagi' rice cakes with her grandmother. Her late grandfather loved the Ohagi made by Kirichan. This story is about remembering and paying respects to ancestors and departed family members through making Ohagi. It's the third installment following "Grandma's Osechi" and "Grandma's Ehoumaki." At the end, culinary researcher Hiroko Horie provides a recipe for tricolored Ohagi.
