Abstract

On the Sanriku Railway running along the coast of Iwate Prefecture, there's a "Disaster Learning Train" that allows passengers to view the disaster-stricken areas while learning about disaster prevention. With the aim of preventing the memories of the Great East Japan Earthquake from fading, the company's employees themselves serve as guides. This non-fiction book covers the extensive damage Sanriku Railway suffered during the disaster, the three-year journey to fully reopening the lines, and the bonds between people connected through the Disaster Learning Train.
